One of the biggest aggravations from Apple iPhone users is the absence of IM and picture messaging from their $400+ phones. Some reports have it that AT&T sent text messages to their iPhone customers with this message:
"AT&T FREE Msg: Good News, your messaging package now includes text, picture & instant messages all for the same price of $19.99 per month. No action required"
It also appears that some users claim they've been getting these messages for the past year now, long before the iPhone came to be. My thoughts is it may require more of a firmware upgrade on the iPhone vs. a push of a button by the people with the Death Star logo.
I guess we'll find out, it's not like AT&T has ever promised something and then not delivered. The official Verison Zero Zero opinion? Skeptical at best. Personally I have a Verizon powered Samsung Windows Mobile enabled
phone and have always had IM and photo messaging support along with a media player, ssh/telnet capabilities, web browser, email...not as chic, but it performs well within it's specifications.
Here's the post that got me thinking...
